This practical online session is built for exploration and resource geologists, mine planning engineers, and technical leaders who need higher confidence in resource estimates. We’ll walk an end-to-end geostatistical workflow—from data validation and compositing to variography, KNA, kriging strategy, and resource classification—using examples aligned to JORC/NI 43-101 (and related codes).

Session Agenda

  1. Introduction – Goals, workflow map, and how each stage affects classification and reporting confidence.
  2. Statistical Analysis & Geological Domain Validation – Descriptive stats, distribution checks, contact tests, and domain boundary verification.
  3. Composite Length Analysis – Selecting composite length, sensitivity checks, and effects on variance/variograms.
  4. Outlier & Top-Cut Strategy – Detecting outliers, selecting capping approaches, and documenting mean/variance impacts.
  5. Spatial Analysis & Declustering – Cell declustering, swath plots, and removing clustered drilling bias.
  6. Anisotropy Mapping – Building anisotropy maps and defining geology-aligned search ellipsoids.
  7. Variogram Analysis & Cross-Validation – Experimental variograms, nested structures, diagnostics (ME, MAE, RMSE, QQ).
  8. KNA (Kriging Neighbourhood Analysis) – Discretization, block size decisions, avoiding negative weights, optimal sample counts.
  9. Kriging Methods – When/how to use SK, OK, lognormal kriging, non-stationary SK, KED, and cokriging—key assumptions and pitfalls.
  10. Resource Classification – Practical proxies (kriging variance, slope of regression, drill spacing, pass counts) combined with geological confidence.
