New Features for Contour Creation in K-MINE
The latest K-MINE release brings significant updates that make preparing data for mine design simpler and faster. Every mining project requires closed contours before the design stage can begin, and this new functionality streamlines that preparation process considerably.
Extracting Contours from Wireframes
With a list of levels and a design or as-built wireframe, you can now generate closed polylines by slicing the wireframe at each level elevation. Select the source wireframe by choosing its layer or by picking the object directly. Set the desired line properties, then click Create Boundaries to generate the contours automatically.
Cleaning and Smoothing Generated Polylines
The generated polylines are ready for use in the K-MINE Dynamic Design module, but a quick cleanup step is recommended first. Remove contours whose area is too small to form a valid level, then proceed to the smoothing function. Smoothing is straightforward – set the Smoothing Step value and click Smooth. Higher step values produce stronger smoothing effects. If the result is not satisfactory, press Undo and try a different value. The goal is to remove noise without shifting the contours from their intended positions.
Automatic Target Elevation Detection
When the smoothed contours look good, you can begin the design stage. K-MINE now includes automatic target-elevation detection, allowing each contour to be accepted to the correct level automatically. You can also select and accept a group of contours simultaneously. For example, with three contours at different elevations, use the Use Boundary function to accept them where needed, then proceed to creating the design lines.
Flexible Workflow Options
For convenience, the same actions are available on the main Levels tab. With one click, accept as many boundary lines as needed for your project. Contours can be stored in a single layer or split across layers by elevation – both approaches are fully supported in K-MINE.
Completing the Mine Design
From this point, complete the design and enjoy the streamlined workflow. Add ramps, roads, tangents, and curves. Connect roads as needed – everything is accessible in one place. Import the as-built mine workings to align plan and reality, and always use the block model to evaluate the current design. Create multiple design variants, compare them, choose the best option, and achieve optimal results for your mining project.
