Have you been tasked with developing a new pit level? K-MINE simplifies this essential process, enabling efficient planning and immediate operational analysis. In this quick tutorial, you’ll learn how to create a new pit horizon, build ramps interactively, and rapidly evaluate ore parameters critical for your mine planning.

Interactive Ramp and Horizon Design

Starting from the existing pit model, we’ll explore an interactive method different from traditional dynamic designs:

  • Ramp Creation: Open the “Create Ramp” task within K-MINE and choose your ramp’s starting point. Evaluate the provided presets to select the ramp style best matching your site’s requirements.

  • Paired Horizons: Optionally, add offsets for berms; in this case, we create paired horizons directly.

  • Defining Pit Edges: Clearly define the opening’s edges, linking them seamlessly to your ramp starting point. Smooth corners to create a realistic ramp trajectory.

  • Upper Edge Completion: Repeat these steps for the upper pit edge and finalize by closing the contour.

Wireframe Validation

To ensure design precision, generate a detailed wireframe, displaying both your existing pit and the newly planned surface. K-MINE visually highlights differences in a color-coded format, helping quickly identify mining zones requiring attention.

Ore Quality Analysis

Efficiently assess the ore quality in your newly designed pit level:

  • Activate your block model within K-MINE.

  • Apply specific filters and temporarily hide the current pit surface to focus exclusively on your target mining area.

  • Easily distinguish rock types through intuitive, color-coded visuals.

Instant Ore Volume and Grade Calculation

Finally, swiftly calculate ore parameters:

  • Select the defined mining area within your K-MINE interface.

  • The software automatically calculates ore volume, mass, and grade, providing immediate, structured results in an easy-to-understand table format.

  • This feature empowers quick operational decisions and informed strategic planning.
